Smart Borders

Increasing travel and trade has brought about rapid increase in the number of transnational/transregional people movement, and thus posed heavy workload on border control. For anyone who crosses the border of a country or between two countries, passport (sometimes together with visa or other travel document) is the legal document and the holder of the document is checked for identity verification, a process used to be made manually by the officers.  With passport readers, the verification by means of biometric matching proves to be far more accurate than naked eyes.  Self-check e-channels have begun to be deployed in more and more international airports and inland borders in more and more countries.

Biometric enrollment

The first step is biometric enrollment, which is usually made in the visa application process. In some cases, travelers can register their biometrics on arrival at the airport of a country.

Hisign products for this process include: Biometric live collection system software, 4-slap fingerprint scanner, portable personal information collection system, etc.

Real-name Verification:

Identity verification is the process to verify the coincidence of captured passenger fingerprint/face photo with the passenger travel credential document (e.g. passport).

Once a passenger is checked with biometric information in the passport at the border entrance, and proved to be true holder of the passport, the personal information can also be searched in a blacklist or white list to guarantee that he or she be authorized to cross the border.

Hisign products for this process include: fingerprint matching software, face image matching software, fingerprint/face matching e-Gate controller, etc.
